May 15 Newsletter - Think outside the giftbox, new agent agreements, Florida World Trade Month

Posted on May 15th, 2015 at 2:55 pm

Thinking outside the giftbox

A spirits client recently put together a promotional giftbox set to combine their rum, In-Bond at our Foreign Trade Zone, with gift items produced in the US and Caribbean. In a Foreign Trade Zone environment such kitting Manipulations are possible. Even if WTDC could not physically manage the manipulation at its facility, FTZ regulations allow the manipulation to be performed at a nearby location.

Florida World Trade Month

Each May is World Trade Month and Enterprise Florida, the Florida Chamber of Commerce, and World Trade Center Miami have made a collective effort to promote Florida as a trade hub by promoting ‘Florida World Trade Month’.

Did you know?
61,000 companies in Florida export products or services

Florida as a Gateway – Goods valued at $153.2 billion entered or exited through Florida’s two US Customs Districts

Florida ranks #8 in agricultural commodity exports, supporting 109,000 Florida jobs with an economic impact of $13+ billion

There are a number of events, training seminars, tours of ports and airports, and resources published to highlight Florida trade.

WTDC announces new agent agreements

WTDC Transportation evolved as a need to better manage the supply chain of our Duty Free and Travel Retail customers in the Spirits industry. Now, WTDC regularly manages products from many industries from the manufacturer to the consignee. WTDC is a licensed NVOCC, IAC, and coordinates Road & Rail movements.

We are proud to announce two new agen agreements that will ensure optimal performance for our current and future customers.

Dominican Republic – CaribeTrans SA is WTDC’s designated agent in the Dominican Republic.  The companies provide door to door transportation services for companies shipping to/from US and Dominican Republic. WTDC’s agreement with CaribeTrans marks a rekindling of a business relationship between the two family owned companies that began over 30 years ago.

Chile – Loginsa SA is WTDC’s designated agent in Chile. The companies work together to provide door to door transportation services for companies participating in the Chile-US tradelane. Ralph L. Gazitua, President & CEO of Miami-based WTDC, is pictured below with Eric Lobo G., General Manager for Santiago-based Loginsa SA. They recently promoted their logistics capabilities at a seminar in Santiago, Chile.
