Coronavirus update from WTDC

March 16, 2020 by Techleadz

Yes, WTDC is open. We continue to monitor the latest available information while implementing steps to ensure the continuity of business and well being of our staff. It’s estimated that the U.S. is about 2 weeks behind the Coronavirus COVID-19 time line of Spain and Italy, countries that are locked down in attempts to stunt the spread of the virus. While we hope that such quarantine measures are not necessary here, WTDC is preparing for such an emergency. Thanks to years of hurricane preparation, we are well versed in how to ready ourselves for the possibility of regular operation disruption. We’re doing our part to ‘flatten the curve’ by eliminating travel and non-essential meetings, encouraging at-risk staff to begin working remotely, sanitizing our workplace, educating ourselves on social distancing and practicing it whenever possible, and preparing for any eventuality by purchasing tablets for all our staff to work from home. WTDC will continue to follow the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Miami-Dade County.

CBP announces end to IBEC

March 3, 2020 by Techleadz

On February 20, Florida Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association (FCBF) hosted an In-Bond Seminar in conjunction with U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP). After the focused training session, CBP representatives said that the In-Bond Export Consolidator (IBEC) Type 14 bond used by many in the Miami area to consolidate in-bond shipments is out-dated and would soon be phased out.

Many IBECs already have other bonds that would cover the cargo flow in and out of their facilities such as Bonded Warehouse, CFS, and FTZ bonds. CBP is already working to convert IBECs to CFSs and will coordinate with FCBF so that all stakeholders are well updated.
