New Panama Canal channel opens, MOL Majesty on its way to Miami

On June 26th, the ship COSCO Shipping Panama became the first to enter the new locks of the Panama Canal. Wider and deeper locks and a dredged channel through Gatun Lake will accommodate New Panamax ships nearly 3 times larger than their predecessors.

The MOL Majesty is the first Miami-bound  New Panamax vessel to transit the expanded Panama Canal. It will be docked at Port Miami in the second week of July.
