WTDC News: FEC visit, MIA cargo up Q1. WTDC Health & Wellness

WTDC Newsletter - April 30, 2018 New FEC President & CEO visits WTDC Foreign Trade Zone Sean P. Gazitua, WTDC President & CEO (pictured center-left), was honored to welcome Florida East Coast (FEC) Railwayâ??s new President and CEO, Nathan Asplund (pictured center right), to our Foreign Trade Zone on April 25. Mr. Asplund shared with us the new direction of FEC following its acquisition by Grupo México in July 2017. The company continues to build its volume for the rail spur into PortMiami, has multimodal partnership agreements throughout Florida and the East Coast, and maintains an extensive railway network in Mexico and Texas. Joining the meeting were FEC Executives David Banfield, Assistant Vice President - International Sales (pictured left), and Alberto Cabrera, Assistant Vice President - International Sales (pictured right). Sean P. Gazitua participates in first FIU Alumni Board of Directors meeting On April 25, WTDC President & CEO Sean P. Gazitua (pictured right of center) began his 10 year term on the Alumni Board of Directors for Florida International University. They voted on new business and discussed the upcoming fishing tournament. The meeting was a changing of the guard for two of his good friends. It was the last one overseen by outgoing FIU Alumni Board President Eddie Hondal, Senior Diabetes Specialty Professional, Eli Lilly Company, (pictured left of center) who was replaced by FIU Alumni Board President-Elect Michael Hernandez, Senior Vice President, Mercury Public Affairs (pictured left). Eddie, Michael, and Sean were all members of the same college fraternity at FIU, Sigma Phi Epsilon, as were the other Board members pictured above: Alberto Padron, CEO, Stinghouse, (pictured 2nd from left), Juan Carlos Alexander, President, LAS Worldwide, and Benjamin Sardinas, Managing Director, Healthcare MA. Sound Mind - Sound Body, WTDC embraces healthy workplace initiatives WTDC has implemented a Health and Wellness program over the past year. What began as a concept of creating a healthier work environment for WTDC has evolved into daily participation in healthy diet and exercise by WTDC employees and Tenants. WTDC continues its program as a drug free company and is now also a smoke free facility, with smoking cessation programs encouraged for its employees.
