President’s Corner
On Thursday night, the WTDC team and I attended the FIU Alumni Cocktail Reception at the Biltmore Hotel. I was formally introduced as the President of the FIU Alumni Board of Directors. We were able to rekindle relationships with old friends as well as meet new alumni. I’m honored to be entrusted with such a prestigious role and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve my fellow FIU alumni in this capacity. Go Panthers!

PortMiami awarded title of best U.S. homeport
On May 9th, Porthole Cruise and Travel magazine recognized PortMiami with the Best U.S. Homeport Award for 2024.
Porthole editor-in-chief Bill Panoff praised PortMiami’s accessibility as well as amount of activities within the vicinity of the port before or after a cruise trip.

University of Galway visits WTDC
On Wednesday May 15th, University of Galway students from the Master’s program in International Management visited WTDC as part of their international exchange with FIU’s College of Business.
During their time at WTDC, we provided them with insights into the logistics industry as well as our company initiatives as a family-owned and operated business.
WTDC Picnic
On Saturday, May 18th, the annual WTDC Picnic was held at the beautiful Matheson Hammock Park. WTDC employees, family, and friends celebrated 47 years for our family-owned and operated logistics business. It was also an opportunity to wish our beloved Chairman, Ralph L. Gazitua, a Happy Birthday!

Sean Gazitua elected President of FIU Alumni Association Board of Directors
On Sunday May 12th, WTDC President and CEO Sean Gazitua was formally elected as president of the FIU Alumni Board of Directors alongside new officers and five new board members.

On Thursday, May 16th, the Annual FIU Alumni Cocktail Reception took place at The Biltmore Hotel. This event is held to celebrate the collective accomplishments of FIU alumni as well as introduce the new inductees of FIU Alumni Board of Directors. Congratulations Sean Gazitua!
MIA plans to add new concourse
Miami International Airport will be adding a new concourse in its south terminal. Concourse K will be a three-level structure with the space to accommodate either three wide-body aircrafts, six narrow-body aircrafts, or a combination.
The total project is set to cost $621 million.

Tariff increase on certain U.S. bound imports from China
On May 14th, the White House stated that the tariffs on U.S. imports from China will remain, with certain products to see increases. The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) reviewed the tariffs, which initially took effect in 2018.
Notable tariff increases on U.S. bound imports from China will be seen in: certain steel and aluminum products, semiconductors, electric vehicles, ship-to-shore cranes, and more.
