U.S.-Cuba Relations Update

First U.S. origin container arrives in Port Mariel for the cruise industry

This week Savino Del Bene-Miami (SDB) completed its first shipment of agricultural products from Port Everglades to Cuba’s Port Mariel to service the cruise ships  in Havana’s cruise terminal. SDB received a 2-year exemption from the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) for these recurring shipments.

John Paul Brigneti, VP Global Logistics Cruise & Marine Solutions for Savino Del Bene Miami, added, “This shipment represents a major milestone for SDB and for the cruise industry. It is great to see this shipment come to fruition after nearly two years since first visiting Cuba and Port Mariel to understand its capabilities and operations.”
