Navigating Tariffs with FTZs
Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs) such as WTDC can offer businesses a strategic advantage in light of tariffs and trade policy changes by deferring, reducing, or eliminating duties and taxes.
President-elect Donald Trump announced plans to impose a series of tariffs on imports, including a 25% tax on goods from Mexico and Canada as well as an additional 10% on Chinese goods.
Economists suggest these measures could result in higher consumer prices, shifts in employment, and impact goods such as: crude oil, electronics, vehicles, and food products.

USMX x ILA Negotiation Update
With just over two weeks until the dockworker’s labor agreement extension runs out, WTDC is closely monitoring the situation to mitigate any disruptions for our customers. If you have any concerns, please feel free to reach out to us directly.
The International Longshoreman’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) face a critical labor negotiation, with unresolved issues over the balance between technological advancements and job security.
On December 12th, President-elect Donald Trump voiced his support for the ILA, backing the union’s concerns about automation. His involvement added momentum to discussions aimed at finding a solution that satisfies both parties before January, 15, 2025.
