President’s Corner: Thanksgiving Blessings and Miami Art Week

Port Everglades $53.3 Million Grant
South Florida Congresswomen Debbie Wasserman Shultz and the U.S. Department of Transportation announced a $53.3 million federal grant to reduce emissions at Port Everglades. The funding will cover infrastructure such as electric gantry cranes and workforce development programs.
This grant is part of a broader $2.9 billion initiative by the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to promote renewable energy across U.S. ports in 27 states.

10th Annual Pajama Drive for His House Children’s Home
WTDC is excited to announce our 10th Annual Pajama Drive, partnering with His House Children’s Home.
We are accepting new pajama donations for children up to 18 years old until December 13th. Drop off donations to WTDC Operations or postmark donations to c/o WTDC, 2801 NW 74th Ave, Suite 100, Miami, FL 33122.

6th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive delivered to Lotus House
On Friday, November 22, 2024, WTDC delivered 35 frozen turkeys with an assortment of ribs, pork loin, hams, and dry goods to Lotus House Women’s Shelter as part of our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Lotus House provides three meals a day and shelter for women and children in need.
We extend our gratitude to our corporate partners and our WTDC employees for their generous donations. Special thanks to WTDC Transportation Manager, Castell Chavez, for organizing this community initiative.
Thanksgiving Luncheon
On Friday, November 22, 2024, WTDC hosted a Thanksgiving Lunch for staff, catered by Whisk Gourmet, to celebrate the hard work of our team. Thanksgiving is a time to express gratitude and we are truly thankful for our amazing employees who make WTDC what it is!
Cruising Thanksgiving Spike
This Thanksgiving, cruising has faced a 20% increase in bookings compared to 2023. Port Miami and Port Everglades have attracted an audience through perks like festive onboard events, special holiday menus, and Black Friday deals for 2025-2026.

20th Annual Breakfast in the Park
On Sunday, December 8th, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Patricia & Philip Frost Art Museum at FIU will host its 20th Annual ‘Breakfast in the Park.’
This year’s celebration features the Steven and Dorothea Green Critics’ Lecture Series, spotlighting Malawian artist Billie Zangewa, followed by a complimentary breakfast.
Cookie Gazitua, wife of WTDC Chairman Ralph L. Gazitua, is a Senior Board Member of the Frost Art Museum.
