U.S. & China agree to resume trade talks

At last week’s G20 Summit, U.S. President Trump and China’s President Xi agreed to halt imposing new tariffs and restart trade talks. However, tariffs of 10% and 25% implemented over the past year will remain in place for now.

President Trump has also decided to allow U.S. companies to sell to Chinese 5G tech giant Huawei, a pullback of earlier sanctions against the company for accused intellectual property theft and concerns that Huawei could pose a security risk due to its strong ties to the Chinese government and access to communication data through its growing 5G network.

Virgin Trains breaks ground on Orlando extension

Coming soon to South Florida in 2022: High speed rail between Orlando and Miami. Last week, representatives from Virgin Trains (formerly Brightline) and City of Orlando officials broke ground at a ‘red spike ceremony’ marking the commencement of work on the 170 mile West Palm to Orlando extension of the high speed passenger rail service that already operates between Miami and West Palm Beach. If plans continue as scheduled, the next extension to be built will be Orlando to Tampa.
