WTDC Newsletter – October 15, 2026

In President’s Corner, we reflect on giving back to our community.

Giving back to our community is at the heart of WTDC and our family.

With my mother, Cookie, serving on the Frost Art Museum’s Board of Directors, it was a special honor.

We recognized Miriam Machado and the Frost Art Museum at FIU for their commitment to arts and education.

Their work supports arts, education, and community service.

Breast cancer has touched all of us through family, friends, and colleagues. Initiatives like the museum’s 15th Annual Breast Health Initiative Art Show bring people together and raise awareness. Moreover, we stand with those undergoing treatment, celebrate survivors, and remember those we have lost. Together, we will continue supporting these efforts and raising awareness until there is a cure. Additionally, FTZ Warehouse Miami remains committed to community health initiatives. Best regards, Sean Gazitua, President and CEO.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Philip & Patricia Frost Art Museum at Florida International University and WTDC employees came together for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We honor those undergoing treatment, celebrate survivors, and remember those we have lost. About one in eight U.S. women will develop breast cancer.
WTDC will continue supporting Breast Cancer Awareness by participating in the MIA Runway 5K on October 17.

Panama Canal expands long-term slot allocations
On October 5, the Panama Canal announced that its Long-term Slot Allocation program will expand to the Panamax locks for the first time during the 2027 dry season. From January 3 through April 3, the program will reserve three daily Panamax and three daily Neopanamax transit slots, with sealed-bid competitions scheduled for November.
By allowing carriers to secure passage months in advance, the program can improve sailing reliability and help Miami-area importers and logistics providers plan shipments more confidently during a period when water conditions may affect Canal operations.

Frost Art Museum hosting art auction breast health initiative
The 15th Annual Breast Health Initiative Art Show, “Strength in All Shades,” will take place on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Florida International University. Presented in collaboration with the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at FIU, this special evening of art, awareness, and action will feature an art auction with works contributed by participating artists.

The program will include exhibitions focused on health and healing, educational sessions on breast health and early detection, and opportunities to connect with survivors, advocates, and healthcare professionals. For every $100 raised, one woman will receive a free mammogram, helping expand access to potentially life-saving early detection services.
