President’s Corner

Bonjour! Today my President’s Corner has a view of the Bay of Cannes, France. My wife Emely and I have traveled to meet WTDC’s partners in the Duty Free and Travel Retail industry at TFWA’s World Exhibition. It’s amazing to feel the energy and enthusiasm for this industry throughout the marina and exhibition.
This week we look forward to insightful discussion panels and meetings with current and future clientele. My meeting schedule is full, but if you would like to connect at one of the TFWA events please let me know and I will try to accommodate.
Stay healthy,
Sean Gazitua, President & CEO

Pope Francis receives delegation of university rectors

On Thursday, September 21st, Pope Francis welcomed nearly 200 rectors of public and private universities from Latin America and the Caribbean to the Vatican. The two hour discussion with Pope Francis was the culmination of a two day synod with a theme of “Organizing Hope” organized by Red Universitaria para el Cuidado de la Casa Común (RUC). Social topics such as migration and climate change were presented to the Holy See.
Dr. Erik Larson, Chair and Associate Professor of Florida International University’s (FIU) Religious Studies program, invited Ralph L. Gazitua, Chairman at WTDC, to participate.
In the group sessions, Mr. Gazitua shared an overview of WTDC’s internship program, where over 150 students learn the fast-paced world of logistics, and the values of the company which have budded an alliance between FIU Religious Studies and WTDC. As a retired Deacon of the Catholic Church, it was the honor of a lifetime for Deacon Ralph to meet Pope Francis.

7000 days accident free

On October 3rd, 2023, WTDC will be 7000 days safety-accident free. Daily safety trainings, a Safety & Security Committee that meets quarterly, infrastructure improvements, as well as the standards required of a CTPAT, FTZ, and TSA facility have assisted us in reaching this milestone.
