Cuba-US relations update:
Carnival arrives in Cuba Monday
In our last newsletter, we covered the much-maligned Carnival Cruise ship destined for Cuba that had excluded Cuban born US residents.
In a dramatic reversal over the last week, Cuba has dropped its policy restricting Cuban born citizens from returning to the island via boat. As such, Cuban born American citizens were allowed to set sail on Sunday’s maiden voyage to Havana, Cienfuegos, and Santiago de Cuba. The ship arrived in Havana on Monday. In the wake of the rule reversal, the discrimination lawsuits against Carnival have also been dropped.
