President’s Corner
Last week, I had the privilege of attending two key industry events: SeaTrade Cruise Global and F&B@Sea.
These conferences provided a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with the valued customers we are proud to serve. Thank you for your continued trust and partnership—you’re what makes our business thrive!
A common topic of conversation was how businesses can adapt to the evolving global trade landscape. Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs), like WTDC, allow companies to defer duties and taxes on imported goods until the product is nationalized for U.S. commerce.
For additional inquiries on how FTZs can benefit your operations, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Stay healthy,
Sean Gazitua, President & CEO
President Trump Pauses Reciprocal Tariffs for 90 Days
President Trump introduced a 90-day pause on his proposed “reciprocal” tariffs, dialing most import duties down to 10% for 57 key trading partners including the EU, Japan, and South Korea. Following a week of market volatility, this move aims to create space for trade negotiation.
Tariffs on Chinese goods stay at 125% amid rising tensions. Canada and Mexico remain exempt if USMCA compliance is met, while existing 25% duties on steel, aluminum, and autos remain in effect. Exemptions for copper, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and other critical goods remain.

Navigating Tariffs with Foreign Trade Zones and WTDC
U.S. Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs), like WTDC, offer businesses a solution for managing tariff exposure. Within an FTZ, goods are imported, stored and processed without incurring immediate customs duties or taxes.
FTZs streamline documentation, reduce delays, and speed movement of cargo from ports. Companies benefit from deferred and mitigated tariffs, especially on items used in manufacturing, liquor, metals, and more
If you are interested in FTZ services or have any inquiries please feel free to contact us.
